Zoe was founded by Joshua Jones. Joshua is a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama in the United States of America and he loves to teach English! Joshua spent 10 years working in Latin America, where he learned to speak Spanish. After he learned Spanish, he developed a passion for languages. In 1999, he enrolled at the Business School of the University of Alabama. During his studies there, he began to also learn French, Italian, and Portuguese.
Joshua learned to teach English at the University of the Nations in Lebanon, Pennsylvannia. There Joshua received a TESOL (Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages) teaching certificate in addition to receiving hands-on practical training. Since arriving in Japan, Joshua has taught private lessons, tutored individual students, and has been invited as a guest lecturer and teacher at a variety of English clubs, schools, and organizations.
In addition to his experience teaching English, Joshua has also taught and spoken in many different countries on the subjects of international business, web design, and Christian medical missions. He taught web design at the University of Alabama and was the co-director of a missionary training school in Costa Rica.

The Jones Family
In 2004, Joshua married Akiko Tomita, a native of Hamamatsu, Shizuoka in Japan. Akiko was attending the University of Alabama when they met. Together they have one child, Naomi, and one more on the way. They moved to Hamamatsu in the summer of 2007.
