About Us

Zoe Café is owned and operated by Ron and Julee King.  Ron and Julee are from Lewiston, Idaho in the United States of America and they love to teach English!  Ron and Julee have hosted many Japanese students in their home in America over the past 17 years and have grown to love Japan, the Japanese people and the culture of Japan. 

Ron has completed a Bachelors Degree in Social Work, a Masters Degree in Counseling and a Secondary Teaching Certificate.  Julee has completed a Bachelors Degree in Communications.  Ron and Julee have both been teaching for many years.  Ron has worked as both a teacher and counselor for over 27 years and Julee has been involved in teaching for over 20 years. Since arriving in Japan, Ron has been teaching private and public English lessons, tutoring individual students and is also teaching English at several companies.  Julee will be teaching classes and administrating the office.

In addition to their experience teaching English, Ron and Julee have also taught and spoken in many different countries.  Ron and Julee have traveled to over 15 countries and have been responsible for a homestay program over the last 8 years that has introduced Japanese students to America and American students to Japan. 

The King Family

Ron and Julee met in university and were married in 1975.  Their son Ryan was born in 1978 and their daughter Jasmine was born in 1982.  Their son Ryan was married to Jacque in 2006.  Ron is an avid runner and cyclist and loves music and drinking and collecting wine.  Julee is an accomplished pianist and enjoys cycling and reading. They moved to the Hamamatsu area in the spring of 2010.
